Get up to date with our new speakers from World Rowing, UCI and Cluasa Communications with the AISTS SEMOS™ and SEMOS™ Plus Open Modules.
The AISTS SEMOS™ (Sport Event Management & Organisation Open Module) offers industry professionals a week-long immersion in the core functions of managing sport mega-events such as World Championships and Continental and Olympic Games.
The two event management and organisation open modules provide an opportunity to reinforce and validate the day-to-day work process, fill in missing knowledge gaps and uncover the latest trends in sport management to help deliver major events that meet stakeholder demands – from athletes, spectators, media and sponsors. Speakers include industry leaders and consultants from the IOC, organising committees from London, Rio and Tokyo Olympic Games, National Olympic Committees, FIVB, Asian Games, Youth Olympic Games and more.
This year’s programme has new speakers with up to date industry experience. Our newest speakers include:
Colleen Orsmond who is the Sport Director with World Rowing (FISA). Colleen has a well-rounded view of international sport competition, having experienced it from the side of the athlete, the international federation and the organising committee. She began her career in the corporate sector in the area of corporate social responsibility, before moving to the world of sport to work on transformation and development for the national rowing federation of South Africa. In 2013, Colleen moved to Rio de Janeiro to take on the role of Rowing Manager for the Rio 2016 Olympic & Paralympic Games, and following the conclusion of the Games, returned to Lausanne to take up the role of Sport Director for FISA, where she oversees the events and sustainability areas. Colleen also competed at the 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games.
Cyrille Jacobsen who is Head of Marketing at the International Cycling Federation (UCI). Cyrille, like Colleen, was an athlete himself and part of the National French Team in the modern pentathlon for 10 years. He started his professional career at the Adidas headquarters in Germany working on the communication plan of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. Soon after this, he spent four years as the Sales Marketing Executive for the pan-European broadcaster Eurosport. He has also worked with The Amaury Sport Organisation and Lagardère Sports and in 2014 he joined the UCI and is now responsible for the handling of all the sponsorship and TV rights of the federation.
Sophie Ashcroft who is the Director of Cluasa Communications. Sophie is an award-winning sport communications expert and has built up a wealth of experience in communications and marketing for major sport events and businesses over the last 15 years. Sophie was recently appointed into a senior communications role at English Championship football club, Sunderland AFC, having left UK Anti-Doping in July after three years as Head of Media and PR. Sophie has previously held senior communications roles within Tennis Scotland, Aegon, British Athletics and the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. Sophie also owns her own business, Cluasa Communications, which specialises in media operations for sport and events, and her clients include the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, the IAAF European Athletics, IPC, the London Marathon and the Great North Run.
The SEMOS™, focused on hands on learning with constructive outcomes, over five days will explore topics such as venue management, sport competition, city relations, marketing & sponsorship, accreditation, logistics, security, press and broadcast, spectator experience and more.
The SEMOS™ Plus also returns, after being first launched in 2015. The various sessions gives participants the flexibility to pick and choose 2/3 hour sessions with a sport event management focus. There are 8 different sessions to choose from on topics such as anti-doping, media & press operations, knowledge management, ticketing and spectator experience – all in relation to their role in sport events.
