The AISTS was very happy to welcome the 17th edition of the AISTS Master of Advanced Studies in Sport Administration and Technology programme yesterday to the Synathlon.

This year’s class of 35 participants, from 21 nationalities, bring with them high-quality educational backgrounds in Science, Law, Finance, Business Administration and Management, Marketing and Communications and Architecture, along with rich professional backgrounds.

We have former athletes from the sports of beach volleyball, football, skiing, fencing, swimming and basketball who are all excited to commence their professional sporting journey here in the Olympic capital.

AISTS Executive Director, Dr Claude Striker, once again welcomed the class along with the AISTS President, Professor François Bussy, from the University of Lausanne and the AISTS Chairman of the Scientific Committee, Professor Daniel Oyon, from HEC Lausanne.

“This year marks the 17th edition of the MAS programme and as always, I enjoy meeting our carefully selected participants and sharing this unique journey with them.  The Class of 2019 bring with them some excellent professional experience that I am sure will make a mark in the continually evolving sports industry that we are part of here in Lausanne”

Dr Claude Stricker

The introduction of our new Head of Education for the AISTS was also made yesterday, with Mr Michael Broadley stepping into this position.  Michael comes from a background in international education having worked in Canada, the UK and Switzerland, and he also has graduated from the AISTS programme in 2016.

The class of 2019 will continue with lectures until the end of June next year, with our 5 main discipline areas being covered – medicine, law, technology, sociology, and management and economics. Our rich network of over 100 lecturers and professors from the best schools in Europe and expert industry speakers will continue to provide this year’s participants with a complete perspective of sports management.  The months following June will see the participants fulfilling their work experience placements and producing their individual research paper.

With now over 500 graduates going on to work around the world in the sports management field as managers and administrators at the International Olympic Committee, International and National Sport Federations, Corporate Organisations, Sport Governing Bodies and Olympic Organising Committees we have no doubt that the class of 2019 will have a successful year and continue the strong legacy of the MAS programme for future years to come.

If you are interested in becoming the next leader in sport then applications for our next edition of the MAS programme are now open.  For more information about the AISTS sports management programme visit or to start filling in the online application form click here.

Experience the world of sport in the Olympic Capital

Participants attend several full-day workshops throughout the programme to experience sport. These sessions are delivered by the sport organisations and federations themselves and provide a unique hands-on experience and well as an ideal opportunity to connect to our alumni and experts working in the industry.
