Class of 2018

“For me, what sets the AISTS MAS program apart from all the other leading sports management programs in the world, is the fact that it is in Lausanne, nestled in the midst of all the International Federations that govern sports”.

I was very clear, right from the beginning that it had to be the AISTS MAS program for me, or nothing. I wanted to work in sport governance and administration, rather than the commercial side of the sports industry – and for this, there is no other program quite like the AISTS MAS in Sport Administration & Technology. For me, what sets the AISTS MAS apart from all the other leading Sports Management programs in the world, is the fact that it is in Lausanne, nestled in the midst of all the International Federations that govern sports. The network and value this provides is incomparable. The program draws up on this strength by ensuring the involvement of top industry leaders, including the IOC.

I came to Lausanne in 2017 with the intention of working in an International Federation and preferably in youth sports. Today, I work with the International University Sports Federation (FISU), which stages global events for university athletes aged between 18 and 25. It is exactly the kind of work I wanted to do. My role as Press Officer, draws upon my years of experience as a journalist and also my understanding of how an International Federation functions, learned in the classroom at AISTS. In that sense, the AISTS program filled in the blanks in my resumé and also allowed me to be in the right place at the right time.

Apart from the professional aspect, the AISTS year was one of the most fun years of my life. Having taken a mid-career break after a decade and a half as a media professional, going back to being a student was absolutely wonderful. Being in a classroom with 27 different nationalities, multiple languages and a melting pot of culture was a delight. I made friends for life, with like-minded people who are passionate about sports and invested in how the world of sports is run.
