I love sports and decided to make a turn in my professional career. When I read about the AISTS programme online, 13 years after I left the university I felt I really wanted to study again, and even more when I realized it was in the place of my dreams: Switzerland.
I had the privilege to be awarded with the June Canavan Foundation Scholarship in 2012, and since then, I have gone through the most exciting stage of my life. Moving from Colombia to Switzerland was already a big adventure.
The interdisciplinary approach of the programme and the methodology had a well-structured scheme of theory and practical cases. We had direct access to the most experienced and renowned lecturers from diverse areas of sports management as well as an extensive network of people from International Sports Organizations and the Olympic movement. All this, along with the research paper and the team project allowed me to deepen into specific knowledge, develop cross-cultural skills and attend events, conferences, etc., as well as leverage my CV and get a great work experience.
Besides the academic and professional side, the strong links I developed with the AISTS ‘family’ are one of the most meaningful things for me. We shared great moments in class, social gatherings, friendly sports competitions and awesome trips in this paradise of mountains, lakes, cheese and chocolates.
During this year I also participated in many sports events (as a volunteer, athlete and spectator), which I could not do very often in my hometown. I had never been so busy!
I will keep on recommending this programme to all sports lovers who want to develop an international career in the ‘home of sports’. In the end, there is nothing like doing what you love!
