AISTS Sports Event Management and Organisation Seminar Open for Registration

Since 2001, the AISTS has been organising the Sport Event Management and Organisation Seminar (SEMOS™) .  This Open Module offers an overview of the key tasks that sports managers need to successfully plan, communicate and operate when organising sport events, providing a 360° view and behind the scenes look at the mechanics of sport events.

The AISTS Sport Event Management and Organisation Seminar continues to focus on hands on learning with constructive outcomes and practical learning opportunites and activites.  Over five days particpants explore topics such as venue management, sport competition, city relations, marketing & sponsorship, accreditation, logistics, security, press and broadcast, spectator experience and more. We bring together leaders of International Sport Federations and other experts of the AISTS network, including the International Olympic Committee and sport event organisers, to share their knowledge and expertise on all aspects of event management. 

The 2018 AISTS SEMOS™ will take place from Monday the 8th of October to Friday the 12th of October, 2018 at the Synathlon, Unil Campus, Lausanne (map).

This newly revised SEMOS™ programme is being led by Ms Andrea Marcellini, AISTS Project Manager and previously the Venue General Manager at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games at the veledrome.  With over 10 years of experience working in sport and 7 years of working in international sports organisations, Andrea has experience in managing large-scale events and teams and specialises in project management and communications.  She will also be lecturing throughout the week, providing participants with hands-on learning through numerous operational readiness exercises. 

Other speakers include Gavin McAlpine from the International Olympic Committee who is Head of Games Operational Readiness.  His experience includes twelve years with two global consulting firms and has performed a number of long-term secondments in organising committees for the Olympic Games including Vancouver 2010 and London 2012 and most recently has supported the IOC as an advisor with projects for the  Sochi 2014, Rio 2016 and PyeongChang 2018 Games.  

Also is Paul Caccamo who is Founder & Chief Executive Officer of Up2Us Sports.  Paul is a 25-year veteran of the non-profit sector and one of the founders of the Sports-Based Youth Development Movement. He has helped to establish numerous non-profits that focus on youth development, sports and physical activity, and education. He lectures internationally and writes on the impact of sports on youth and community development.  Another is Clare Hartley, Director of ARC Event Consultancy LtdClare who has worked in major sports events for 17 years across Olympics, Paralympics, Commonwealth, Special Olympics World Games, mass participation charity events and national level school games and Special Olympics. Clares has extensive knowledge from working across large multi-sport events to single sport world championships and charity events and at London 2012 she was the Venue General Manager for the Road Events and worked in the venue management team for 3 years. Particpants will have 5 days of differing sessions including lectures, panel discussions from experts, group work, operation readiness exercises and also a evening newtorking cocktail.  At the conclusion of the seminar participants also receive a Certificate of Completion.

A not-for-profit foundation, the AISTS is committed to professionalising sports management through continuing education, applied research and an engaging platform for industry connections.  The AISTS Open Modules integrate theories into practical applications, through case studies, presentations and discussions, enabling a rich exchange of ideas and experiences.
