THE CLASS OF 2018 GRADUATES IN STYLE AT THE OLYMPIC MUSEUM

The Class of 2018 graduated on Wednesday evening, the 5th of December, marking the 16th annual Master of Advanced Studies in Sport Administration and Technology Graduation Ceremony for the AISTS.

The 37 graduating participants celebrated the completion of their 15-month journey at the Olympic Museum, here in Lausanne, with an audience of 200 people including industry professionals, educational representatives and family and friends.

The Class of 2018

Throughout the ceremony we heard from the President of the AISTS, Professor François Bussy, Vice President of Research and International Relations at the University of Lausanne, Ms Cinzia Catalfamo, Manager of Global Academic Network and Interagency Partnerships at FIFA, Ms Nikki Symmons, AISTS Alumni Committee President and Digital Manager of the International Hockey Federation and the President of the International Olympic Committee, Mr Thomas Bach.

We once again were very honoured to have President Bach attend our ceremony and give his words of congratulations and encouragement to the graduating class and also personally award them with their AISTS degree.  He encouraged the Class of 2018 to continue following their passion, to continue shaping their passion and most importantly to shape the future of sport.

The evening also saw 2018 participant Thomas Roos receive both the award for Best Research Paper Award with his topic being “Assessing applications of genetics based training within professional football clubs” and also the esteemed Best Participant Award. Thomas now adds his AISTS master’s degree to his already long list of qualifications that include two master’s degrees from Stanford University in Science, as well as a Bachelors from Emory University.  Thomas also is a professional athlete and is a triathlete for Team USA as well as a sports consultant and entrepreneur.

The ceremony was concluded with a heartfelt message from the two 2018 class representatives, Tina Sharma and Alexis Pacome, who shared their AISTS journey with the entire audience.

The class of 2018 started their journey in September last year, with 9 months of full-time lectures, exams, case studies, workshops, team projects and field trips to different international federations and other sports organisations. For the remaining 5 months, participants focused on their research paper and completing a minimum of 8 week’s worth work experience for a sport organisation or sport-related company. The graduation ceremony represented the culmination of the participants’ hard work and dedication throughout the year.

The AISTS once again wishes all our graduates the very best for their future career in sports management.
