AISTS Class of 2018
15 months ago the class of 2018 made their way to the Olympic Capital and embarked on a once in a lifetime experience – to study sports management with the AISTS in Lausanne.
Since then they have lived in a new city, for most, formed new friendships with each other through their time in class, completed a nine-month team project in small groups, written an academic research paper and begun working in the sports industry. And now, 15 months later, they are at the end of their MAS 2018 experience, with their graduation ceremony taking place this at the Olympic Museum this week.
President Bach, from the International Olympic Committee, along with other distinguished guests will present them with their AISTS degree, a degree that is co-signed by 3 top Swiss universities – EPFL, UNIL and the Universtiy of Geneva at the 16th graduation ceremony being held on Wednesday the 5th of December.
Part of the AISTS journey and the programme is to complete 8 weeks worth of work experience in the sports industry, either abroad or here in Lausanne. Since July, 40 out of 40 of our participants have completed this work experience and most are continuing on with these positions. Our graduates have been working both here in Switzerland and also in the USA, Canada, Argentina, Germany, South Korea and Holland in international federations, organising committees, professional sports teams, bidding cities, start-ups, not for profit organisations and consultancies.
This year’s MAS class of 40 participants have come from 25 different nationalities and include a Beach Volleyball Olympian, a professional cyclist, as well as a professional triathlete who is a member of the USA Team. As a group they have contributed to sport through numerous projects including raising a substantial amount of money for the June Canavan Foundation, volunteering at the UEFA Youth Finals and contributing locally at the Lausanne FIBA 3×3 World Tour. The graduates of 2018 will join our 500+ alumni network and continue their journey within the sports world.
