ONLINE SEMINAR WITH THE PRESIDENT OF THE INTERNATIONAL ESPORTS FEDERATION – HOW COVID-19 HAS TRIGGERED THE ESPORTS BOOM

In our third online seminar, the AISTS welcomes Vlad Marinescu, the president of the International Esports Federation. Vlad will discuss how COVID-19 has created a boom in the Esports sector and what this means for the future.
The session is open to all AISTS participants, alumni and members of international federations and sports organisations and is free of charge.
The session will cover topics such as Esports history, a discussion on whether Esports is a sport, the Esports ecosystem and business models, COVID-19 and how it has impacted Esports, Esports and mental health, and how Esports can collaborate with International Federations.
The hour-long session will be conducted in English and will include an opportunity for questions from the audience. Should you not be able to attend – or are unable to access Zoom – a recording will be available on our website shortly after the event.
VLAD MARINESCU, PRESIDENT OF THE INTERNATIONAL ESPORTS FEDERATION
Vlad started his career in sports in 2003 working for the European Judo Union. From 2007 he worked for the International Judo Federation as assistant to the President, before being appointed Director-General of SportAccord in 2013 (now the Global Association of International Sport Federations) the umbrella organisation for over 100 International Federations.
In 2015, he became President of RSportz inc. an American IT company which developed a cloud-based organisation and community membership management solution for sports.
Esports has been a passion since middle school years and in 2019 Vlad took the role of President of United States Esports Federation and became a board member of IESF. His main objective was uniting the Esports ecosystem and creating sustainable models for the benefit of Esports development.
Now, as President of IESF Vlad’s primary target is supporting member National Federations, while promoting unity and recognition, instigating close collaboration with stakeholders and partners for a unified objective, protecting athletes and developing Esports – together with all sport family – for a better tomorrow.
