AISTS RETURNED TO TSUKUBA UNIVERSITY IN TOKYO THIS WEEK
The AISTS is once again in Tokyo this week to deliver a week-long seminar to the Tsukuba International Academy for
Sport Studies (TIAS) program.
The AISTS is the official partner of the TIAS and has been delivering tailored education to its participants in the areas of events management and the finance and economics of sport since 2014.
This week’s seminar organised by the AISTS, which commenced on Monday, is a sports management seminar tailored made for the TIAS program with a focusi on event management, sponsorship, media and broadcasting and entrepreneurial startups in sport.
Speakers include representatives from international federations, organising committees, startups, TOP sponsors, cities and commercial agencies.
Gavin McAlpine, Head of Olympic Games Delivery – Tokyo 2020, a regular speaker with the AISTS SEMOS program, and AISTS alumni Michael DeCastro, Olympic Games Delivery Manager – Tokyo 2020, started the week with an introduction to event management and planning followed by Shaunak Joshi, Event Delivery and Integration Manager, of Rugby World Cup 2019.
Other speakers for the week include Fernando de Matos, Head of Sponsorship – Singapore from VISA, Richard Harris, Head of Ticketing, Membership and New Events from England Rugby, Jiao Li, AISTS alumni and Director of Media Sales and Production with Lagardere Sports & Entertainment – Singapore, Ahmed Almajed, another AISTS alumni and Founder / Managing Partner of Pro-Vision Sport Management and Extreme Sports Retail and Distribution plus more.

Tsukuba International Academy for Sport Studies (TIAS) is the international sports academy to promote global human resources who can lead the international sporting world for the 21st century. As part of the project of “Sport for Tomorrow” pledged by the Japanese Government for Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games on 2020, TIAS is established at the University of Tsukuba.
