AISTS PRESENTS SEMOS™ OPEN MODULE IN JAPAN

For the 3rd year in a row AISTS has returned to Tsukuba International Academy for Sport Studies (TIAS) to present the AISTS SEMOS™ (Sport Event Management and Organisation Seminar) Open Module to the 2016-18 Masters Programme.  

The AISTS is the official partner of the TIAS and has been delivering tailored education to its participants in the areas of events management and the finance and economics of sport. 

The AISTS SEMOS™ Open Module was first launched in 2001 and has been held annually in Lausanne ever since with it being held for the first time in Tokyo, Japan, in October 2014.  This year SEMOS™ includes a series of lectures from Michael De Castro, AISTS Alumni and currently Game Planning and Coordination Manager for Tokyo 2020 and also Mario Medeiros, another AISTS Alumni who is the Commercial Director at the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB). 

The TIAS class this year consists of 18 participants from 13 nationalities, with an average age of 29 years old.  Topics, to be covered in this week’s open module include: sport competition; venue management; games planning & coordination; hospitality; sponsorship, sustainability and legacy and ticketing and accreditation.  Speakers have travelled from various international federations including the International Judo Federation (IJF) and the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) as well as the International Olympic Committee, World Cup Rugby 2019 and other sporting organisations. 

The week concludes on Friday the 2nd of June with the TIAS Business Forum.
