5 TIPS FOR APPLYING FOR THE AISTS MASTER IN SPORTS MANAGEMENT
Applications for the AISTS Master’s program 2021 – starting in September 2020 – are officially open. As the World’s Number 1 Sport Management Master we have only 35-40 spaces available each year.
Here, we share some insider tips to make your application process easier, and make your application stand out.
1. AIM FOR THE FIRST DEADLINE
The AISTS master’s in sport management program accepts applications for three deadlines; 1 November 2019, 1 February 2020, 1 May 2020. Aiming for the first deadline gives you maximum opportunity to secure a place. Why? Because after each deadline we allocate a certain amount of places on the course meaning chances are higher in rounds one and two.
2. PAY ATTENTION TO DETAIL
The application process is very thorough. There are quite a lot of different components that you’ll need to prepare for, and your written application is just one part. Alongside this you will need to prepare things such as English language test, two letters of recommendation, and certified copies of your university degree and transcript.
The most important bit of advice we have here is to pay attention to detail. For example, your letters of recommendation need to be signed and on company letterhead. And, if your university transcripts aren’t in English, French, German or Italian, they’ll need to be officially translated. 3. GET ORGANISED AHEAD OF TIME
There’s a lot to do for the application and much of it requires assistance from other people and organisations (universities, translators etc). Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to gather the information and documents you need. The great news is that our online form can be saved as you go along, meaning you can continually update it until you have everything you need.
4. SHOW YOUR PASSION FOR SPORT
We’re looking for truly passionate future leaders of sport. Being a fan isn’t enough. You need to be dedicated to a career of sports management and administration and thirsty for the opportunities the course will present. Make sure you highlight your achievements in sport – on and off the field. Sports volunteering, coaching, sports journalism, being an athlete…these, and many more, are ways of showing your commitment to the industry.
5. ACE THE MOTIVATION LETTER
The motivation letter is one of the main items that the Scientific Committee (which approves applicants) will consider. Keep it to 2-3 pages and make sure you answer the following questions:
- What do you consider to be the key problems facing sport today?
- What are your motivations for applying to the AISTS MAS in Sport Administration?
- Where and in which sector of activity do you intend to work after obtaining your AISTS MAS in Sport Administration degree? Make note of any sports organisations/companies that you are in close contact with / are planning to work.
- How do you plan to finance your course fees and living costs during the duration of the course (one year)?
The motivation letter gives you a real chance to shine and stand out, so make sure that you focus your efforts on this.
