AISTS just welcomed its newest cohort of sport management professionals. This September, 36 participants started their AISTS Master of Advanced Studies in Sport Management and Technology in Lausanne, the Olympic Capital. They come from 24 different territories and speak 18 different languages. As a result, this new class reflects the truly global reach of the programme.
There’s something different about this class, and it’s a first for AISTS. Indeed, for the first time, the cohort is evenly split between women and men, with 18 women and 18 men. Reaching gender parity is an important milestone for us and reflects our commitment to encouraging greater female representation in sport leadership. In fact, our Future Female Leader in Sport Scholarship exists precisely to open doors for women who want to build a lasting career in this industry. The recipient of this year’s scholarship will be revealed shortly, so keep an eye on our channels.
Beyond gender, this year’s class also stands out for its range of profiles. With an average age of 31, most participants already bring several years of professional experience.
Their backgrounds span sport, engineering, business, law, sport science, international relations and the social sciences. Meanwhile, the many nationalities and perspectives in the room add even more depth. Together, this mix fuels the kind of debate and cross-pollination of ideas that defines the AISTS classroom.
Over the next 15 months, this group will train, collaborate, and grow together in the Olympic Capital, before joining a global network of over 750 AISTS alumni working across the sport industry.
