HUMANS OF AISTS
MAS2021 | Ep15 | Christos Iacovides
My passion for sports came very early in my life. It began in primary school, where I won the Cyprus tennis tournament in the under-12 age group. As a result, I started intently following local and international football and tennis tournaments, challenges and developments. In my childhood, I also acquired a passion for extreme sports such as skateboarding, rock-climbing, wakeboarding and snowboarding. I still practice these sports today (through trips to the Alps as Cyprus has very mild winters and limited ski facilities).

In 2011, straight after secondary school, I joined the Special Forces (Green Beret) after being selected from thousands of candidate soldiers. This stint shaped my character to lead, be a team player, stand up to challenges, and successfully complete complex tasks with discipline and precision.
After I graduated from Cass Business School (City University of London) in 2016, where I obtained a BSc in Accounting and Finance, I took a year off in Mayrhofen, Austria, where I completed the CASI level 1 to teach snowboarding as a Qualified Snowboard Instructor. This further indicates my consistent passion for sport and has convinced me that I can build a career around the sports industry.
Upon my return to Cyprus in 2017, within a strong financial services centre, I worked in the Tax Advisory and Risk Advisory divisions.
However, the sports industry remains my targeted career field. I would like to pursue a career change into an industry that I am passionate about, that suits my personality and culture, and provides me with satisfaction. I aspire to work for international professional sporting groups in Europe, making a difference, and assisting and developing local sports organizations in my home country, Cyprus. AISTS is the path to this new career prospect.
