Helping Athletes Transition into Sport Management – AISTS Master of Advanced Studies

Athletic careers naturally come to an end – but your passion for sport does not have to. Whether you’re a current or former elite athlete, the AISTS Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) in Sport Management and Technology can help turn your on-the-field experience into a successful off-the-field career.

Since 2003, over 700 MAS alumni have successfully launched careers in international sport organisations, federations, clubs, and businesses. Among them, 73 were elite athletes who joined the Master of Advanced Studies to transition into a sport management. This unique programme equips athletes with the academic knowledge, practical tools, and professional network needed to succeed beyond the field of play.

To support athletes exploring their next steps, we are hosting a free, 45-minute webinar focused on career transition. Open to athletes from all sports and backgrounds, this session offers guidance and real-world insights into how to move from competition into leadership roles in the sport industry.

You will hear from two former athletes who successfully transitioned into the sport industry after completing the AISTS Master of Advanced Studies in Sport Management and Technology.

Meet the Panelists

Elisa Hämmerle (MAS 2022):

A former elite artistic gymnast, Elisa represented Austria at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and the 2010 Youth Olympics. Over the course of her athletic career, she earned four medals on the FIG World Cup circuit – one silver and three bronze. After graduating from the AISTS MAS in 2022, she gained experience at several prestigious sport organisations. She first joined the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as an Olympian Intern for Athlete Support & Partnerships, before stepping into media roles with Real Madrid TV and the Olympic Games Paris 2024. She now works as a Media Relations Coordinator at Olympic Broadcasting Services.

Samin Abedkhojasteh (MAS 2023):

With a background as an international badminton player and coach, Samin participated in several Asian and World Championships. Driven by a desire to evolve beyond the court, she joined the AISTS MAS to explore new opportunities in the sport industry After graduating from the AISTS MAS in 2023, she held roles in marketing, communication, and sport & sustainability development at Volleyball World and bloomUp. She now works at the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) as MortSport Funding Program Liaison Officer.

The AISTS Master of Advanced Studies in Sport Management and Technology is designed to develop the leaders of international sport from around the World.
