AUGUST ENTREPENEUR MONTH – ALUMNI SHOWCASE
What does it mean to be entrepreneurial? A quick google search tells us that being entrepreneurial can mean knowing your industry inside out, and being able to use that knowledge to create new opportunities, it can also mean sharing ideas freely, and celebrating so-called failures as learning and growing experiences and finally it can mean simply thinking outside of the box, and expecting the unexpected. Here at the AISTS, we have been following our Alumni now for 14 editions and we have seen some of them step out, think outside the box and create their own path.
Last year we showcased “The Rise of Entrepreneurs” and caught up with 3 alumni who had blazed their own trial after their studies in the AISTS MAS programme. They were Allan Chamorro Managua former Commercial Manager, now founder and director of Sportstudio 23 (S23), Abou Bakr Shaaban, former Finance Manager and now co-founder of ON TRACK and Akash Menon, former Systems Engineer and now owner of The Hood.
Each of these alumni gave us a glimpse into what it was that drove them to step out and start something of their own. We caught up with Allan this week. Allan has continued as managing director of S23 and recently presented their best practices model to all member states of The Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) at a summit in Miami, USA. S23 is a sports management firm aimed at sports federations and their properties that focus on developing business models, operations models and venue management. Although it has been an intense year for Allan and challenging at times, particularly juggling work and home life, he has fought hard and is making strong progress.
To carry on with this and showcase our creative trail blazers we declare August as Entrepreneurial Month. So keep an eye out on our news feed for other AISTS Alumni entrepreneurs and discover what they are doing here in Lausanne and further abroad. We will have fresh faces each week.
