Volume 1: Football and Soceity
Whatever the news, football is widely followed and players have achieved almost religion status in many countries. Although the game itself is quite simple, its organisation, fan base and management have become very complex and as such the game is well developed, well promoted and well funded compared with other major sports. Football brings nations together but also divide. On one hand, issues related to hooliganism, racism, homophobia, gambling, violence and corruption within its management easily overshadow the game of football. On the other hand, football clubs are places where young people gather and partake in sports activities that are rewarding physically and mentally as well as foster social equity and the inclusion of minority groups.
Volume 2: Sustainability and Legacy
Sustainability and Legacy is the focus of this new volume, and contains six papers produced by AISTS’s Master of Advanced Studies in Sport Administration and Technology participants as part of their postgraduate degree.
The collection examines a number of recent challenges and themes, including:
- Adopting the concept of creating shared value
- Sports participation levels in host countries, pre-and post Games
- Waste Management and environmental initiatives
- Rio 2016 ‘s Four Olympic Zones Concept and its impact on legacy; and
- Olympic Parks as a solution for legacy
With a number of wide-ranging recommendations proposed by the six authors, there is at least common consensus found across all papers. In order for Sustainability and Legacy initiatives to succeed, they require top management commitment, integration into the organisational strategy as well as company wide buy-in. Download here.
Volume 3: Governance and Ethics
