HUMANS OF AISTS

MAS2021 | Ep12 | Jourge Sousa

Step by step, going through the walk of life, I arrived in Lausanne for a new and bright stage of my career. And you know what? I could not be happier with the decision I made. From wonderful colleagues, to extremely professional staff and recently built installations, AISTS has given me the opportunity to learn about Sports Management in an excellent environment and, above all, to hear from several speakers who “live and breathe” Sports.

While my first working experiences go back to Sports, in both Fundação Luís Figo and Sporting Clube de Portugal, it took me almost eight years studying Business Management and working in Consulting to finally decide it was time to follow my ultimate dream: from being a Sports afficionado, to becoming a full-time member of the International Sports Community.

To get here I definitely went through a bumpy ride full of exciting challenges: working on several topics and industries, I would highlight my eight months experience working as Deloitte’s Global Smart Cities PMO and one and a half years working in PwC’s Assurance department.

Elsewhere, before moving to Switzerland, I was a regular presence on the stands of both Estádio José Alvalade and Pavilhão João Rocha. I am a proud Sporting Clube de Portugal’s sócio (Club membership) following not only Football, but also Handball, Roller Hockey, Volleyball and Futsal, and delighted to “share the green-and-white colors” with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Luís Figo, Nani, Peter Schmeichel, Carlos Lopes, Francis Obikwelu, Joaquim Agostinho, among other legendary athletes.

Unfortunately, nowadays we cannot celebrate with our idols, but like in every obstacle there is always a Silverlight to be spotlighted: me and my classmates have the awareness and obligation to contribute to the future of Sports – Smart Sports – by helping to develop it, increasing events sustainability, infrastructures resilience, and enhancing both fans, athletes and local communities’ experience in the years following the COVID19 pandemic.
