AISTS WISHES OUR ALUMNI IN PYEONGCHANG A GREAT GAMES
Over the past few weeks, we have been showcasing our Alumni who are working with the PyeongChang 2018 Organizing Committee. With only 2 days to go, we would like to wish all our Alumni in PyeongChang a great Games.
The XXIII Olympic Winter Games will be held over 17 days, from 9 to 25 February 2018 in PyeongChang, Gangwon Province, the Republic of Korea. The Games in PyeongChang will mark the second time South Korea has played host to the Olympics. Seoul. Numerous AISTS Alumni have already been in PyeongChang for the lead up to one of the biggest sporting events this year. We are proud to have more than 20 AISTS Alumni working at the PyeongChang 2018 Games with 4 people working in the PyeongChang Organizing Committee in different areas, along with Alumni working with the International Olympic Committee, the International Skating Union, Swiss Olympic, the National Federation of Costa Rica, Youth Olympic Games Buenos Aires 2018, Beijing 2022 Organizing Committee and also the International Paralympic Committee.
The AISTS Alumni community is now nearly 500 strong and the MAS programme’s unique attribute is its direct connection with the Olympic Movement. Being based in the Olympic Capital the AISTS have the International Olympic Committee 5 minutes down the road and numerous International Sport Federations. Our alumni have a strong understanding and appreciation of the Olympic movement and its values so it is no surprise that we have so many Alumni working at each Games, both Winter and Summer.
The PyeongChang 2018 Games is also special for the AISTS community as we have Alumna, Maria Ntanou, competing in her second Olympic Games. Maria, representing Greece in her second Winter Olympic Games, will be one of the first athletes out on to the stage for the Opening Ceremony being held on Friday and will compete on the 15th of February at the Alpensia Cross-Country Centre in the PyeongChang Mountain Cluster in the 10km Freestyle Cross Country skiing event. The AISTS and our alumni community will be there to cheer her on and we wish her all the very best.
So from everyone here at the AISTS, we wish all of our Alumni a successful Games.
