AISTS WINS THE ENVIRONMENTAL AWARD AT THE UIM AWARDS GIVING GALA IN MONACO

The AISTS has been awarded the 2017 Environmental Award for its International Federations Sustainability Inventory at the prestigious 9th edition of the UIM (Union Internationale Motonautique) Awards Giving Gala, held at the Salle des Étoiles of the Sporting Monte Carlo in Monaco. 

This award recognises outstanding environmental leaders, whether individuals or organizations that have excelled in inspiration vision, innovation, leadership and initiatives to the benefit of the environment.  The UIM is committed to promoting environmentally friendly practices which will help to contribute towards solving some of the environmental challenges of today, particularly those involving the decline in biodiversity to the unsustainable use of energy resources.

The AISTS was recognised for its International Federations Sustainability Inventory which is a worldwide recognised centre of expertise for sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR) for sport and sport events.  It engages and empowers the sport sector with knowledge and tools to incorporate sustainability and convene successful and sustainable sport events. 

Its most recent publication is the International Federation Sustainability Study, which is an independent AISTS study providing an in-depth look at the opinion, current state of thinking and sustainability practices of International Sport Federations in the areas of social equity, environmental integrity and economic efficiency.  This study was conducted in association with ARISF (Association of IOC Recognised International Sports Federations) and also with the support of AISTS Alumni, Rohit Ramesh, class of 2015.

The motorised sports are a great example in the wider sports industry with their innovative approach to sustainability. The AISTS Sustainable Sport & Events Centre will continue to highlight good practices and connect the different actors to foster opportunities for the further growth of the sports industry in a responsible way.”

The AISTS Executive Director, Dr Claude Stricker, received the award in front of more than 400 guests from the world of sport, the business and the media, with 62 UIM world champions crowned at the Sporting Monte-Carlo of Monaco. Watch here
