AISTS Alumni at the Heart of Cycling

Every summer, professional cycling draws millions of spectators along its roadsides, and its biggest race, the Tour de France, becomes one of the most watched sporting events on the planet. Behind the scenes, in event organisation, marketing, equipment, integrity and team management, AISTS alumni cycling careers are quietly being built at the sport’s highest level. Several of them work at the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), the sport’s world governing body based in Aigle, Switzerland.

The AISTS Master in Sport Management: Where AISTS Alumni Cycling Careers Began

Consistently ranked the World’s No.1 Master in Sport Management by Eduniversal for the past decade, the AISTS Master of Advanced Studies in Sport Management and Technology equips future sport leaders with the knowledge, skills and network needed to succeed in the sport industry. Through close collaboration with major sport organisations, participants gain real-world experience during the programme.

Throughout the programme, participants attend workshops run by federations and industry leaders, and take on a Client Team Project, a real assignment for a real sport organisation, completed before graduation. This hands-on experience tends to pay off later: a job offer, a strong reference, or simply the ease of walking into a velodrome or race headquarters without feeling like an outsider. More than twenty graduating classes in, it’s this same bridge that keeps sending AISTS alumni into careers like the ones below.

Madeline Coquoz

AISTS 2025 Marketing and Partnerships Coordinator · Union Cycliste Internationale

A former Swiss elite diver, Madeline moved from fifteen years of high-level competition into event and workforce coordination at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Her AISTS research examined how hosting a UCI Road World Championship in a lower-income country shapes marketing and partnership strategy, work that carried straight into her role at the UCI.

Hélder Ferreira

AISTS 2023 Track Coordinator · Union Cycliste Internationale

A former professional cyclist, Hélder spent nearly five years at the Portuguese Cycling Federation, where he built a national school cycling programme and co-organised major domestic and international events. He joined the UCI as Track Coordinator, delivering UCI Track World Championships from Santiago de Chile to Shanghai.

Anne Gripper

AISTS 2006 Chairperson, Integrity Commission · Union Cycliste Internationale

With 25 years across governance roles in sport, government and the social sector, Anne chairs the UCI’s Integrity Commission and sits on its Executive Committee. Based in Australia, she also serves as a Non-Executive Director for AusCycling and is active in ethics and governance circles.

Capucine Jelmi

AISTS 2025 Partnerships Manager · Tudor Pro Cycling

A former professional rhythmic gymnast, Capucine spent nearly a decade at Tissot leading international sports partnerships, managing activations across the Tour de France, the Giro d’Italia and UCI World Championships. She now manages partnerships for Tudor Pro Cycling.

Andrei Krasilnikau

AISTS 2018 Equipment Specialist · Union Cycliste Internationale

A former professional cyclist who raced in Belarus, Switzerland and the US, Andrei joined the UCI as an intern in 2018 and has since moved through innovation and equipment roles. He now leads work on equipment regulations and technology across all cycling disciplines, including research partnerships focused on rider safety.

Jorge Vazquez Monroy

AISTS 2006 Olympic Events Delivery Consultant / Head – Urban World Championships · Union Cycliste Internationale / Cycling Sport Manager for LA28

With more than 15 years across international federations and Olympic organising committees, including UEFA, World Curling, Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024, Jorge has built a career spanning marketing, broadcast and events delivery. Since 2022, he has led delivery of the UCI’s Urban World Championships.

Breaking Into the Sport Industry: What Really Makes the Difference

A job application alone rarely opens the door to a sport industry career. AISTS keeps steering students toward the same foundations: real passion for sport, internships that give hiring managers proof beyond a CV, and a network built within the industry itself. Location plays its part too, Lausanne sits minutes from the IOC and close to 60 international federations, so a workshop or a casual coffee chat can just as easily turn into a real professional connection.

Professional cycling is followed by millions who will never know the names behind race logistics, integrity oversight or team partnerships. Some of those names, Madeline, Hélder, Anne, Capucine, Andrei and Jorge, started in the same classroom in Lausanne, at different times and for different reasons.
