Furthermore, sport has become a fast-paced and complex multi-sectored industry which relies on the skills of well educated experts, evolves through knowledge and technology, and expands via networks of people and entities.

AISTS, a not-for profit foundation, was founded by the International Olympic Committee and other prestigious organisations and academic institutions to respond to exactly these needs of the industry. It therefore focuses its activity on three pillars:

The 3 pillars of the AISTS

Education

As an academy, AISTS’ mission is to provide high quality education and prepare specialists to satisfy the needs and expectations of the sports industry. To do so, AISTS blends scientific knowledge with real world understanding giving participants in AISTS advanced educational programmes the tools for Mastering Sport.

Applied research

In a unique position to bring together scientists and researchers from esteemed universities with athletes, International Sports Federations (IFs), and sports companies, AISTS facilitates the development of knowledge and its application to sport in mandated research projects, cooperative initiatives, and consulting projects.

Connections

AISTS has close partnerships with many sports organisations and sports related companies and institutions in the fields of applied research, education, training, knowledge transfer and consulting. AISTS distinguishes three types of partnerships: AISTS Founding Members, AISTS Development Partners, AISTS Academic Relations.
